Driving Assessments
Wide Bay Therapy is proud to be offering this new service to the Gympie region and surrounds. Christine is an Accredited Driving Assessor Occupational Therapist and can complete a range of assessments required to gain your licence, review your driving abilities, or recommend modifications and licence endorsements.
-
Assessment following a new diagnosis or injury. This is assessing your ‘Fitness to Drive’ and is required by law to meet QLD Transport regulations.
Assessment for new drivers that have been unable to obtain their licence independently. This includes people with a diagnosis of Autism and Intellectual Impairment.
Assessment and trials for vehicle and transportation modifications for people with a disability. Completion of the necessary applications for the NDIS / TAC / Insurance.
Development of remediation programs to assist clients with developing the required skills to obtain their licence (to be implemented by a Driving Instructor).
-
New medical diagnosis or injury: Your GP or Specialist (Neurologist, Geriatrician etc) will be required to complete the referral form on our contact page in addition to the Medical Certificate for Motor Vehicle Driver Form (3712) from QLD Transport.
Your referral should include background medical information and a list of your current medications. These can be faxed or emailed to Wide Bay Therapy.
NDIS clients: You, your family or Support Coordinator can make a referral to Wide Bay Therapy for an assessment. Often clients with NDIS funding require an assessment and remediation program to be completed to gain additional funding for driving lessons. You must have a Learner’s Permit before completing an on-road assessment.
